How to fix common account errors in Google Merchant Center (Unclaimed website)

Unclaimed website

This error happens because your website URL is not claimed and verified by Google yet. You can easily fix this error by adding a meta tag to your site's home page to verify your website URL.

This code is only a marker, and does not give Google access to or permissions for your site. To stay verified, do not remove the HTML tag even after you have verified and claimed your website URL.

First, go to Google Merchant Center. Then, choose Business Info > Click on Confirm Online Store

Next, enter your website URL > Choose Add an HTML tag to my homepage > Click on Copy to clipboard icon next to the tag to copy it.

After getting the tag, you need to log into your store. Go to Online Store > Themes. Then, at the 3 dots icon > Edit Code.

Find the file theme.liquid inside the layout folder. Paste the meta tag right underneath your opening <head> tag, then Save.

Finally, go back to Google Merchant Center, scroll down and press Verify your online store to submit your URL to Google for verification. If the code is pasted properly in your site's homepage, your website will be claimed and verified quickly.
