How to disable or remove a Facebook pixel from your Shopify store

When you setup Facebook Channel on Shopify, a Facebook pixel can be added, then you need to remove this pixel code on Shopify if you have added the same pixel ID in Onepixel app. If you don't remove this pixel from Shopify admin, your store will have duplicated pixels, which can result in incorrect data in reports. We have some ways to remove Facebook Pixels on Shopify.

There are 3 possibilities you added the pixel ID on Shopify, please check your case to remove it correctly.


I. In case you added same pixel ID in Shopify Facebook Channel





There are 2 ways that you can remove the pixel, let me show you.

Disconnect Facebook Pixel ID


Step 1: Kindly go to your Shopify admin > Facebook > Continue setup



Step 2: Please disconnect the pixel that is the same ID as our app

Step 3: After that, please click Data sharing section and disable it



If you do not use the Facebook channel anymore, you can delete the app on your Shopify app store


Kindly access your Shopify admin > Apps > Click Delete button to remove the Facebook app from your store.




II. In case you added same pixel ID in Shopify preference





Please go to Shopify admin > Online store > Preference and check whether you are putting the same pixel ID there, if yes, please delete it.




III. In case you manually added the pixel code into your theme





Step 1. Kindly go to your Shopify admin > Online Store > Themes > Current theme → Actions → Edit Code, you will be redirected to the code page.



Step 2. Then click into the theme.liquid to open it. Due to Facebook pixel code has included the word Meta Pixel Code so you can press CTRL + F to open the search bar to easily find it. After that, please remove the Facebook pixel code. Finally, click Save button to save the new change that you just edited
